Five-Spice Beef with Glass Noodles Stir Fry

Serve 2

Ingredients you will need

150g beef, thinly sliced

100g dried glass noodles

1 tsp dark soy sauce

1 tsp light soy sauce

spring onion/corianders, to garnish (optional)

Marinade for beef

1 tsp Chinese five-spice powder

1 1/2 tsp light soy sauce

3 tsp water

1 tsp cornstarch

1 tsp cooking oil

Instruction

  1. Marinade the beef and allow it to sit for 15 mins in fridge*.

  2. Cook the glass noodles in boiling water for 2 mins or until it turns half transparent, then drain the water.

  3. Heat a frying pan/wok over high heat with 1 tsp oil, add the beef then stir fry until the surface is slightly browned.

  4. Add the glass noodles, dark soy sauce and light soy sauce.

  5. Stir fry for another 1-2 mins until the noodles are tender and transparent.

  6. Garnish with spring onion/corianders, serve hot.

*Note: It is better for the beef to sit for 15-30 mins in the fridge after coated with the marinades, as this would allow time for the beef to absorb the liquid marinade and the flavours .
